The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a United Nations agency tasked with helping countries eliminate poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth and human development. In the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there has been increasing demand to support policymakers and various stakeholders with digital tools for sustainable data-driven decision-making. This state has been facilitated by the relative abundance of data across UNDP itself and various partner organizations. To maximize the value of this data, complex systems and stacks of tools are rapidly being built and employed in the decision-making processes (Data Futures Platform, etc.). A considerable amount of this data features a spatial character in the sense it provides locational information and a spatial context. GeoHub is an initiative to build on this stack of geospatial tools aimed at empowering a broad range of users to harness the power of geospatial data integrated from disparate projects. This is going to be achieved by developing accessible interfaces incorporating geospatial visualization and analytics functionality, ranging from simple spatial selection and query through spatial overlay to advanced spatial computations and modeling performed on the server side. A relevant example is represented by rapida, a Python library and command line tool built on top of several curated geospatial datasets associated with specific geospatial risk exposure components /variables capable of performing semi-automated assessments (zonal statistics) over a specific area of interest.
