We are proud to share that our students and PhD candidates took part in the ESA Science Hub Challenges 2026, held at ESA ESRIN in Frascati from 14 to 18 September! 🌍

Together with students from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, they spent an intensive week working in interdisciplinary teams on real-world environmental challenges related to urban air pollution and heat. They explored how Earth Observation data can support a better understanding of issues that directly affect urban populations. 🛰️

Our group brought together students from the MSc programmes in Geoinformatics Engineering and Environmental and Land Planning Engineering, as well as PhD candidates. Their different backgrounds and expertise created a valuable space for exchange, combining environmental knowledge, spatial analysis and data-driven approaches.

They also had the opportunity to visit ESA ESRIN, learn more about ESA’s Earth Observation missions and data infrastructures, and meet ESA scientists, researchers and external experts working at the forefront of the field.

For them, it was a chance to work with real datasets, address timely societal challenges and understand how scientific analysis can be transformed into accessible information for a wider audience. Soon, we will also have the opportunity to explore the stories created by the teams on the EO Dashboard! 📊
