SUMMARY:PoliMappers @ OpenStreetMap Geography Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:PoliMappers are happy to announce their participation in the OpenStreetMap Geography Awareness Week\, which will be held 11-17 November. \nDuring this week teachers\, students\, community groups\, map lovers join together to celebrate geography and make maps with OpenStreetMap\, the free and openly editable map of the world. Participating groups include the American Red Cross\, HOT\, MapGive\, YouthMappers\, Missing Maps\, Mapbox\, USAID\, GFDRR. \nThe meeting will take place on 14th of November\, between 15:15 and 18:15\, in the Leonardo campus of Politecnico di Milano\, in building 2\, room N.2.4. During the meeting we will have remote connections with other YouthMappers chapters in Bangladesh\, Ghana and Zambia and learn how they are using OSM data in their research to improve lives. Then we\nwill map to contribute to their projects. For more information and to register\, please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/polimappers-in-osm-geoweek-tickets-52265607840 \nThere will be technical guidance from PoliMappers\, so even novices in mapping are welcome to join. Remember to bring your laptop\, mouse\, and\nenthusiasm for OSM. \nSpread the word by using #OSMGeoWeek2018 on social media. \nThis meeting is the first lesson of innovative teaching course\, Collaborative Humanitarian Mapping\n(https://www.polimi.it/?id=8935&start=&sede=&lerog=&mod=&L=1) at Politecnico di Milano. Please\, note that participants will be accepted regardless of their application in the afore mentioned webpage.

SUMMARY:Social Ecological Systems (SES) dynamic modeling and GIS interfaces
DESCRIPTION:Bruno Meirelles de Oliveira\nBiologist at São Paulo University \nPolitecnico di Milano – Room S1.6 (building 3)\nPiazza L. da Vinci\, 32 \n \nMultiscale Integrated Model of Ecosystem Services – MIMES is a SES modelling system from System Dynamics that embraces complexity attributes of the system (non-linearity\, feedbacks\, dynamism\, etc) in an interdisciplinary and integrated model. This approach broke the academia limits and has been used by EPA\, NOAA\, Ocean Conservancy in several countries like United States\, Egypt\, Cambodia\, New Zealand to help in decision making considering Ecosystem Services perspective.
