SUMMARY:4th Workshop of Humanitarian Collaborative Mapping
DESCRIPTION:Dear students\, a new event of Humanitarian Collaborative Mapping is planned for April 5th\, from 4.15pm to 7.15pm in room S1.5. The event is framed within the European Night of Geography. The event will involve mapping buildings and villages in Senegal to produce risk maps related to schistosomiasis\, a water-based epidemic disease\, affecting the region of Saint-Louis. During the event the usage of JOSM will be explained\, especially for OSM editing with the “Buildings Tool” plugin.\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the mapping activity participants must come with a laptop and a mouse; moreover they need to install JOSM (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Installation) and the Building Tools plugin (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/BuildingsTools) before the event. For any problem in the installation write an email to polimappers@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Social Ecological Systems (SES) dynamic modeling and GIS interfaces
DESCRIPTION:Bruno Meirelles de Oliveira\nBiologist at São Paulo University \nPolitecnico di Milano – Room S1.6 (building 3)\nPiazza L. da Vinci\, 32 \n \nMultiscale Integrated Model of Ecosystem Services – MIMES is a SES modelling system from System Dynamics that embraces complexity attributes of the system (non-linearity\, feedbacks\, dynamism\, etc) in an interdisciplinary and integrated model. This approach broke the academia limits and has been used by EPA\, NOAA\, Ocean Conservancy in several countries like United States\, Egypt\, Cambodia\, New Zealand to help in decision making considering Ecosystem Services perspective.
