The United Nations has been using GIS software for the past two decades to enhance the operational capacity of its operations in the field missions and the UNHQ. Whether it is a Peacekeeping, Special Political Mission or the Field Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, GIS plays an integral role in consuming and procession a vast amount of information and presenting it in an easy visual format that enhances the analysis and monitoring of the situation during the conflicts, awareness, planning and decision making processes.
The seminar will introduce the practical application of GIS and remote sensing for the United Nations field operations.
