Seminar: OpenStreetMap (OSM)

The seminar is an introduction to the vast world of OpenStreetMap (OSM). It presents the data model of the OSM database and how to selectively download the data. Besides, it gives information on how to become an OSM contributor and an overview of OSM mapping techniques. The seminar also gives some practical ways to get various insights about how the database evolved in time and the community, to name a few.

The speaker:

Candan Eylül Kilsedar is a research fellow at Politecnico di Milano, specialized in geo big data web visualization. She has worked with OSM data in recent years, regarding novel ways to visualize the data and populating the database for humanitarian purposes through organizing the students of PoliMi under a group called PoliMappers. She had been the President of PoliMappers and currently she is one of the two faculty advisors.
